I THINK I FINALLY GOT HIT W/ A PROPER IDEA FOR/THE DETAILS OF LAU‘S AC:UNITY VERSE? I mean I had a general idea but-

I’ll steal from the AC:III verse I have/had in that Logan was experimented on with precursor tech by Templars. A la Sanctuary!Tesla, he had a bit in him and the experiment went woah.

After which he decided fuck this and ducked out. This probably being the age of Mama de la Serre, they grudgingly let him go but kept a damn good eye on him since.

Including placing Sarah in his path as a good political match after his marriage to Itsu went south.

1771 and Lau appears. 1778 and they’re off to America. Sarah doesn’t survive the trip. Daken serves under his father in America, giving him all the punchy skills he wants. Lau’s left alone, hopefully well away from fighting, but not always.

They get to be heroes for a while when they get back, but as chaos starts to kick in, they end up targeted.

Daken doesnt help issues, starting out as a Libertine, and quickly getting more and more violent and extreme. And then he really fucks up and disappears. Logan takes some of the fall and ends up prisoner (passed around along with the country like hot potato cause no one, even extremists, wants to be the one to kill a war hero or show mercy to a noble.).

Leaving Lau alone again.

Which is when Templars reappear. Initially, it’s Mme. Levesque, trying to befriend Lau and coax her in with offers of protection. Once in power, they can let Logan out and use Lau as a bargaining chip or use her if she inherited the ‘gifts’ from the experiments.

Which she did.

They bribe and threaten Lau into becoming an assassin for them. (She’s unaffiliated. If caught, she’s just another corrupt noble. The Templars rub their hands together with glee.) At first it was Germain testing her out, but after he died his supporters started using Lau too.

To begin with, she didn’t know what she was doing, and her victims ended up al cut up, as if with claws. So she winds up known as le Serre (Claw) or le Talon. 

She’s told she’s helping to pay her family’s debt, and that with certain people out of the way and Templars in their place, she can get her father back. Probably true, but she’s getting good at what she does. (And it isnt very nice.)

SO YEAH because she’s still just a pawn, she’s happily helping out Arno (but knows to keep that a secret for his sake.) without realising what she’s really doing.

I feel bad about pinning loads on the Templars, even if it is the extremist ones, but I wonder if its one of them that takes a rly bad liking to her or smth? Ye I’m kinda awful I try and get all the kinds of abuse in. The original doesnt all come from the same source but idk where else I could fit it in.
